I will send home a parent conference schedule this week. Please sign up for a time as soon as possible.

I will not be able to send home another 402 News this quarter as we have a limited number of copies we can make, and I have used mine all up. However, I will continue to update the website weekly.

Spelling and Word Study
We will alternate spelling and word study each week. However, there will be no word study this week as we would miss two days due to the holiday and Curriculum Experts.

Go to http://www.spellingcity.com/View-user-profile.html?user=243109 to practice spelling words. There are many different games to play, and after playing you can test yourself to see how much you learned.

Math
Our current unit is on graphing and analyzing data. We will learn how to find the median, mode and range of a data set. We will also create pictographs and bar graphs.

Language Arts
This week, we will determine how character traits and the setting influence the events of a story.

During writing, we are completing a second narrative. Our last story was a personal narrative, but this is a fantasy narrative. Students are also practicing the "somebody wanted but so then" strategy for writing summaries. This type of summary will be used in response to literature essays.

Social Studies
We will learn about Native Californians and the mission system next quarter.

Science
We are about to begin our second unit on Earth's changing surface. We will begin by looking at quick changes created by earthquakes, volcanoes and landslides.

Physical Education
On Fridays, we have PE rotations, so please make sure your child is wearing shoes that are appropriate for running.
